Peer Review Process
Poetika utilizes a double-blind peer review, meaning that the identities of both the reviewers and authors are concealed from each other throughout the review process. Our detailed editorial process is as follows.
- Upon submission, an article is checked for plagiarism. The similarity index for this article should not exceed 20%. All articles with a similarity index greater than 20% are rejected.
- If the article passes the initial screening and has a similarity index of less than 20%, it is passed to the handling editor, who carries out an initial review to ensure that it has followed Poetika’s guidelines. If the article meets our minimum criteria, it is then sent to two reviewers.
- Reviewers evaluate the content of the article and provide a recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief, on whether it should be rejected, returned to the author(s) for minor or major revision, or accepted without revision.
- If the article requires revisions, it will be returned to the author(s) with an expected revision period of four weeks, following which it is reassessed by the handling editor. If it has been sufficiently improved, in accordance with the reviewers’ suggestions, it will be passed to the Editor-in-Chief for a final decision.
- If further (minor) revisions are required, the article will be returned once again to the author(s), and the revision process will be repeated. Conversely, if the handling editor feels the author(s) are unable to make the necessary changes, a rejection recommendation will be given to the Editor-in-Chief.
- If accepted, the article is sent to the language editor, who checks its language and content, and then returned to the author(s) for further proofreading.
- After proofreading, the article is sent to the layout editor, who initiates the typesetting process. Once typeset, the article is sent to the author(s) for final approval and subsequently greenlit for publication.
