- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Author Guidelines
Before submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Parikesit (Journal of Community Service, Research, Creativity, and Appropriate Technology), authors are requested to review and download the following documents:
- Manual Book: The manual book contains instructions on how to register an account, the steps for manuscript submission, and how the manuscript is published. The manual book can be downloaded here.
- Template: The template contains the format required by Jurnal Parikesit for manuscripts. Authors should review the manuscript template before submitting it to our journal's OJS system. The template can be downloaded here.
Authors should carefully review the author guidelines to ensure their manuscript complies with all established requirements. This will help facilitate a smooth review process and enable the manuscript to be processed without delay.
- Plagiarism Check Manuscripts will be examined using iThenticate plagiarism detection services to verify the originality of the manuscript. The maximum acceptable plagiarism threshold is 25%.
- Language The manuscripts you submit should use proper and correct Indonesian language according to the Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia (PUEBI).
- Manuscript The manuscript should use the Palatino Linotype font with 1.15 line spacing and a font size of 10 pt (except for the title, author names, affiliations, abstract, keywords, and references, which should use single spacing); with A4-sized paper (210 mm x 297 mm). The article should not exceed 4500 words, including references (excluding tables, figures, and appendices). Authors are required to adhere to the specified word count. The length of the manuscript includes the main text and all citations within it, but excludes the abstract, section titles, figure and table captions, funding statements, acknowledgments, and references in the bibliography. Jurnal Parikesit requires authors to select one the the following article clusters: Agro, Social Humanities, Health, or Science and Technology.
- Section titles should be left-justified, bold with the first letter capitalized, and numbered sequentially, starting with introduction. Subsection titles should be left-justified, with the first letter capitalized, and numbered as 1.1, 1.2, etc., with the first line and subsequent lines indented.
- Abstract The abstract should be between 150-300 words and provide information about the background, methods, results and discussion, and conclusion.
- Background. The background information presented in the abstract should include the context or background of the service and the main objectives or hypotheses of the service in 1-2 sentences. Briefly explain the theoretical review of involvement, service, and community development that has been conducted. If there are hypotheses, the author may state them and describe the expected results.
- You should describe the procedures used during the service, including the study subjects and the observational and analytical methods. Additionally, you may write about the main results measured for each group of subjects.
- Results and Discussion. The results of the service should be written clearly and concisely, including statistical significance if applicable. You may include the number of participants in each group (if relevant), the main results, and any side effects or significant impacts for each group. Additionally, you can discuss comparisons between the service you conducted and previous services.
- The conclusion in the abstract is written in 1-2 sentences that emphasize the new and important aspects of the service that was conducted.
- Keywords Keywords should identify critical or important concepts in the manuscript. Keywords should consist of 3 to 5 words or phrases and should avoid being taken directly from the title of your manuscript. Separate keywords with semicolons (;).
- Article Content The manuscript title should be complete, clear, concise, and informative. The title should help readers understand the content, so avoid using local terms.
- Introduction The introduction should include a problem formulation based on real and objective scientific conditions. Authors need to provide a theoretical background that underpins the issue being addressed. This theoretical background should include previous theories that form the basis for the service and preliminary hypotheses. The theoretical background provides the state of the art for your manuscript regarding the proposed service issue. Jurnal Parikesit focuses on community service programs involving the public, so the main theories used should be those related to community service, engagement, and development. After explaining the theories, you should outline why the issue raised in your manuscript is important. Then, you can describe how your service differs from previous ones.
- Methods The methods section serves as a means to address the problems outlined in the introduction. The methods should be described clearly, including details about the location, time, population and sample, variables, and data of the service. This section should also provide a detailed explanation of the KKN (community service program) implemented.
- Results and Discussion The Results and Discussion section presents the overall results of the service activity, followed by a systematic discussion. The discussion should be organized from general to specific. Authors may use tables, figures/graphs, maps/plans, and diagrams to help clarify the results and discussion. This section is crucial as it relates to the theory and novelty of the manuscript concerning community service or engagement, constituting 40% to 50% of the total manuscript length. Additionally, the implications or impact of the KKN program involving the community should be described clearly and in detail in this section.
- Conclusion In the conclusion, please summarize the novelty of the study, the success of the program, and its benefits to the community or group. Authors should also explain the theoretical contribution of the study. The conclusion should consist of a maximum of three paragraphs.
- References Avoid using fewer than 10 or more than 40 references. It is highly recommended to use references published within the last 5 years. References from proceedings are not advised. Use APA Style 7th Edition for formatting references, and arrange them alphabetically. Authors may use the Mendeley application to facilitate reference management in Microsoft Word. Download the Mendeley Application. Ensure that each reference cited in the text appears in the References list and vice versa. Examples of how references should be formatted are provided in the References Example section, so you can organize your references accordingly.
- Tables All tables must be numbered with Arabic numerals (e.g., Table 1, Table 2, etc.) and must be followed by a caption. The table title should be placed above the table, formatted left-justified. Tables included in the manuscript should be editable and not presented as images. If a table is taken from another source, please cite the source below the table and align it left-justified. Tables should have horizontal lines only to distinguish between the column headings and the table body, as well as horizontal lines above and below the table. Below is an example of the table format we require.
- Tables in the manuscript should be formatted to avoid being split across pages to facilitate reader comprehension. Each table should be referred to in the text by its table number (e.g., “... the results of the service can be seen in Table 1...”) rather than by a generic reference (e.g., “... the results can be seen in the table below...”).
- Figures All figures must be numbered with Arabic numerals (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.) and must include a caption. Ensure that figures are of high quality and legible. Any symbols within the figure should be clearly defined in the legend or caption. The figure title should be placed below the figure, formatted left-justified. If a figure is taken from another source, please cite the source below the title and align it left-justified.
- Judul gambar diletakkan di bawah gambar dengan format rata kiri (left-justified). Jika gambar diambil dari sumber lain, silakan menulis sumbernya di bawah judul dan diposisikan rata kiri (left-justified).
- Reference Examples Below, we provide example formats for references to assist you in preparing your bibliography.
