Peer Review Process
Jurnal Psikologi employs a double-blind review process, ensuring that the identities of both the peer reviewers and the authors are concealed from each other.
Initial Screening (Editor-in-Chief)
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) to determine whether they align with the focus and scope of Jurnal Psikologi. Manuscripts that fail to meet these basic requirements will be rejected, accompanied by notes outlining the reasons for rejection.
If the manuscript aligns with the journal's focus and scope, it is checked for plagiarism or duplicate publication using a similarity-checking tool. Once verified, the manuscript is dispatched to two experts in the field with relevant knowledge.
Peer Review
Manuscripts passing the initial screening are sent to two reviewers in the relevant field for a double-blind peer review.
Reviewers allocate sufficient time to thoroughly read the manuscript. During the initial read, reviewers generate a first impression of the text. If significant problems are identified at this stage, the manuscript may be rejected without further review. Otherwise, reviewers conduct multiple readings, taking detailed notes and preparing a comprehensive, point-by-point evaluation. This review, along with the reviewers' recommendations (accept, revise, or reject), is then submitted to the journal.
First Decision
A decision on the manuscript is made after both reviewers have submitted their reports. If the reviewers' opinions differ significantly, the final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief. At this stage, the author(s) will receive one of the following decisions:
1. | Accepted |
2. | Revision Required |
3. | Rejected |
Revision Stage
Manuscripts requiring revision are returned to the author(s), who will have up to one month to address the reviewers' comments. The revision process is limited to a maximum of three rounds.
1. | If accepted, the manuscript moves to production. |
2. | If rejected or requiring further changes, the handling editor incorporates constructive feedback to guide the author(s) in improving the manuscript. |
Reviewers are notified by email or letter of the outcome of their evaluation. If the manuscript requires substantial revision, reviewers may be asked to review the revised version, unless they opt out. Minor revisions may be reviewed solely by the handling editor.
Final Decision
If the author(s) fail to meet revision requirements after the second or third round, the manuscript will be rejected.
Timeline
The typical review process takes 3–6 months (average: 3 months), though it may take longer in special circumstances. Accepted manuscripts are typically published within 1–3 months of acceptance.
Important Note
It is highly unethical to withdraw a submitted manuscript from one journal after it has been accepted by another. Jurnal Psikologi strives to promote integrity in scientific publishing in Indonesia. We strongly encourage author(s) to carefully consider the consequences of engaging in unethical publishing practices.
