Lengger Langgar Belenggu Orde Baru: Penari Laki-laki dalam Pertunjukkan Lengger di Banyumas 1970-an–1998

Abstract
This paper aims to explore the presence of male dancers in Lengger art in Banyumas in the 1970s to 1998 and the community's response to male dancers who look feminine in Lengger art in Banyumas in the 1970s to 1998. This research uses the historical research method according to Kuntowijoyo, namely: topic selection, source collection, verification, interpretation, and writing. The results of the study explain that Lengger is an art form that expresses gratitude for a gsuccessful harvest using gender roles and a unique appearance, but its popularity was hampered by the political shackles of the New Order. Banyumas artists are slowly reviving Lengger so that this art is not extinct.
Abstrak
Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi kehadiran penari laki-laki pada kesenian Lengger di Banyumas pada 1970-an sampai 1998 dan respons masyarakat terhadap penari laki-laki yang berpenampilan feminim dalam kesenian Lengger di Banyumas pada 1970-an sampai 1998. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah menurut Kuntowijoyo, yaitu pemilihan topik, pengumpulan sumber, verifikasi, interpretasi, penulisan. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa Lengger merupakan kesenian yang mengekspresikan rasa syukur akan keberhasilan panen dengan menggunakan peran gender dan tampilan yang unik, namun sempat terhambat kepopulerannya karena belenggu politik Orde Baru. Dengan perlahan para seniman Banyumas membangkitkan kembali Lengger sehingga kesenian ini tidaklah punah
