Peer Review Process
Deskripsi Bahasa employs a double-blind peer review process involving one reviewer per article. It means that the identities of the reviewers and authors are respectively concealed from each other throughout the review process. The detailed editorial process is as follows:
- An article passes the initial screening and is checked for plagiarism upon submission. The similarity index for an article should be at most 20%. All articles with a similarity index greater than 20% are rejected.
- Articles that pass the initial screening and the plagiarism check are then handed over to an editor who carries out an initial review to ensure that it has followed Deskripsi Bahasa’s guidelines. If the article meets our minimum criteria, the editor selects a relevant reviewer and initiates the peer review process.
- A reviewer evaluates articles by their expertise and possesses a right to recommend another more relevant reviewer to the editors. if necessary.
- Once a reviewer has agreed to review the article, she/he will evaluate the article's content within a maximum of 4 (four) weeks after the article is sent to her/him. The criteria for evaluating the article's content are as follows:
- Relevance between title and article's content;
- Relevance among research problems, objectives, theories, methods, and results and discussion;
- Visual presentation of pictures, tables and diagrams;
- References;
- Validity and originality of data and information;
- Critical and comprehensiveness of analysis.
- The reviewers must inform the editorial board if they are unable to complete the review within the allotted time.
- The reviewers evaluate the article through the review checklist form/list available at OJS. If they have difficulties, the evaluation can be submitted manually using Microsoft Word in .docx, .doc and .rtf formats and submitted to the editorial board.
- The reviewers provide one of the listed recommendations to the Chief Editor:
- Accept Submission (the article was accepted for publication).
- Revisions Required (minor revisions required to the article).
- Resubmit for Review (major revisions, resubmission, and re-review required to the article).
- Resubmit Elsewhere (the article was rejected and recommended for publication in a particular journal).
- Decline Submission (the article was rejected for publication).
- The article that requires revisions will be returned to the author(s) with an expected revision period of four weeks, followed by a reevaluation by the handling editor. The article that has been sufficiently improved and responded to the reviewers' comments and suggestions will be passed to the Chief Editor for a final decision. If the revisions are deemed inadequate, the article is returned to the submitting author once more for further revision.
- An accepted article is returned to the author for the final editing of its language and content to improve its readability without changing its substance.
- After proofreading, the article is sent to the layout editor, who initiates the typesetting process. Once typeset, the article is sent to the author(s) for final approval and subsequently greenlit for publication.
