Pengaruh Pembajakan Film Terhadap Kesejahteraan Ekonomi Pencipta dan Pemegang Hak Cipta Film di Indonesia
Abstract
Movie piracy has become a serious issue that can threaten economic losses of movie creators and copyright holders. These economic losses occur because movie piracy can lead to a decline in a movie’s revenue as a result of a reduced number of views. The number of movie viewers is a key factor in determining the economic well-being of movie creators and copyright holders.This article aims to analyze whether movie piracy affects the economic well- being of movie creators and copyright holders in Indonesia, and to analyze the ideal legal protection to avoid film piracy to achieve the economic well-being of movie creators and copyright holders in Indonesia. The research method used is empirical judicial research with a sociological approach, and normative research employing a comparative approach with Singapore. Through this method, the result obtained is that movie piracy can affect the economic well-being of movie creators and copyright holders in Indonesia. Furthermore,
Indonesia could enhance its legal protection from movie piracy by evaluating its copyright law enforcement through comparison with the Singapore Copyright Act 2021 based on the “IIPA 2024 Special 301 Report On Copyright Protection and Enforcement”.
