Focus and Scope

The Review of Primary Care Practice and Education (Kajian Praktik dan Pendidikan Layanan Primer) is a bilingual open access journal which provides scientific information on the field of ‘Primary Care’ and ‘Family Medicine’ in the form of research-based scientific articles, case reports, policy briefs and new findings from experts, civitas akademika and medical practitioners. This journal is an official journal of the College of Indonesian Primary Care Physicians in collaboration with the Department of Family and Community Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada, with the inaugural publication in January, 2018. The limited number of scientific journals of primary care and family medicine in Indonesia encouraged the College of Indonesian Primary Care Physicians to create a journal which focuses on the primary care, family and community medical sciences, and to disseminate the information to academics, health practitioners, and the public. This journal contains scientific information on strengthening efforts of primary care, various health problems in primary care, principles of education and family medicine services, and the efforts to create a healthier and prosperous community in Indonesia and the world.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts sent to Review of Primary Care Practice and Education (Kajian Praktik dan Pendidikan Layanan Primer) go through a screening and review process to ensure that the manuscripts are in accordance with the scope of the journal and have sufficient academic quality and novelty to attract RPCPE readers. Then, the articles are sent to Mitra Bestari / peer reviewer and will be entered into the next selection by the Double-Blind Peer Review Process

Screening

Newly sent manuscripts will be filtered by the Editor to check the scope of the journal and the basic requirements of the manuscript.

Peer review

If the manuscript passes the initial screening stage, the manuscript will be assigned to the section editor, who will then send it to at least two experts in the relevant field to undergo a double-blind peer review. Manuscripts that fail to pass the initial screening will be rejected without further review.

First decision

Decisions about manuscripts that are reviewed by reviewers will be made after receiving the review reports. In cases where the report differs significantly, the section editor will invite additional reviewers to get other opinions before making a decision. At this stage, a manuscript can be rejected, requested to be revised (small or large), accepted as is, or (if a significant change in language or content is recommended) is recommended to be sent back for the second review process. If accepted, the manuscript will be returned to the author for formatting. The final decision to accept the manuscript will be made by the Editor in Chief based on recommendations from the section editor and after approval by the editorial board.

Revision stage

Manuscripts that need to be revised will be returned to the author and given up to three weeks to format and revise the manuscript, which will then be reviewed by the section editor. The section editor will determine whether the changes are adequate and appropriate and whether the author is sufficient to respond to reviewers' comments and suggestions. If the revision is deemed inadequate, this cycle will be repeated (the text will be returned to the author who sent it again for further revision).

Final decision

At this stage, the revised text will be accepted or rejected. This decision depends on the section editor in charge of finding the manuscript that has been upgraded to a level suitable for publication or not. If the author cannot make the necessary changes or has made it to a level below the Review of Primary Care Practice and Education (Kajian Praktik dan Pendidikan Layanan Primer) standard, the manuscript will be rejected.
