JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) is an academic, open access, peer-reviewed journal first published in 2017 by the Departemen Bahasa, Seni dan Manajemen Budaya (DBSMB), Sekolah Vokasi, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
The objective of JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) is to provide comprehensive knowledge of the applicative aspects of languages in its real-life practices, especially in academic and workspace settings. As such, JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) calls for work in the field of applied language studies, especially but not limited to English, Japanese, Mandarin, and Korean, as well as Indonesian. These studies and observances, in the form of a concise journal paper, shall develop critical understandings of applied linguistics.

2017. JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) was established.
2017. Each article in JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) was henceforth given a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
2019. JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) changes the article template starting from Volume 3(1). The new template uses Times New Roman font. Formerly, it was Verdana font.
2020. JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) was included in the DOAJ indexing.
2020. JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) starts to publish book review.
2021. In order to emphasize the journal’s place in Indonesian applied language studies, JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) changes its focus and scope, widening the variety of accepted articles to those focused on applied linguistics, including Indonesian. Formerly, articles only in applied foreign languages were accepted.
2021. JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) changes the article template starting from Volume 5(1). The new template uses one column, as it is more reader-friendly. Formerly, it was two columns format. Revised article template is available on article template section.
2021. JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) was indexed in Sinta (Science and Technology Index), with a score of S4.
2023. JLA (Jurnal Lingua Applicata) changes the article template starting from Volume 6(2).
