Efek Penggunaan Emoji pada Kefasihan Pemrosesan dalam Bersosial Media: Studi Eksperimental

Abstract


Emoji sering digunakan untuk menunjukkan emosi saat berkomunikasi di media sosial, sehingga diperlukan kefasihan pemrosesan untuk memahami dan mempercayai isi pesan secara baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan penggunaan emoji terhadap kefasihan pemrosesan. Partisipan penelitian adalah mahasiswa aktif Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Lambung Mangkurat angkatan 2017-2020 yang menggunakan media sosial Twitter, dan berusia lebih dari 17 tahun sebanyak 61 orang. Penelitian ini merupakan eksperimen replikasi dengan desain between subjek yang dilakukan pada dua kelompok eksperimen yaitu kelompok perlakuan kongruen (pemberian emoji yang sesuai makna teks) dan inkongruen (pemberian emoji yang tidak sesuai makna teks). Hasil independent sample t-test menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada kefasihan pemrosesan antara kedua kelompok perlakuan. Hal ini berarti bahwa tidak ada efek penggunaan emoji terhadap kefasihan pemrosesan.
