Abstract

ABSTRACT: Apical Resection and Retrograde Filling on Immature Central Incisor Maxilla After Root Canal Treatment. Dental trauma can cause cracking or fracture of the tooth. In the case of severe dental trauma can stop the supply of nutrients to the pulp that causes pulp necrosis. Trauma with pulp necrosis occurring at an early age can lead teeth to stop developing so that the apical foramen is widely open. The objective of this paper is to report apical resection treatment with retrograde filling using Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) on immature maxillary incisor post root canal treatment. A 22-years-old male patient post root canal treatment with no symptoms with a history of dental pain and swollen gums. Teeth have experienced trauma when the patient was 7 years old and at that time not immediately treated by dentist. Dental pain begin 3 weeks before first root canal treatment procedures, especially exposed to pressure when chewing food. Treatment continued with apical resection procedures with retrograde filling using Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA). Post-surgical controls at months 1 and 2 show good regeneration of bone tissue and continues to be monitored until the next month before permanent dental restoration procedures. The success of endodontic surgical are influenced by the right procedures and techniques, no symptoms as well as the soft and hard tissue regeneration after surgery.
