Abstract


Artikel ini membahas mengenai nasionalisme dan gagasan kebangsaan Indonesia awal yang dicetuskan oleh tiga serangkai Soewardi Suryaningrat, Tjiptomangoenkusumo dan Douwes Dekker yang tergabung dalam Indische Partij. Meskipun usia partai ini sebentar, tapi gagasan yang disebarkan trio IP ini memberikan pondasi dasar terhadap gagasan Indonesia. Gagasan mereka tentang bangsa pada masanya telah melampaui pemikiran politik zaman itu. Pemakaian istilah “Indonesia” adalah kata yang dipopulerkan pertama kali secara politik oleh pemikir dalam kelompok ini pada saat pembuangan di Belanda. Gagasan ketiga pemikir ini memberikan suatu jalan terhadap kemunculan konsepsi kebangsaan Indonesia yang lebih modern pada tahun 1920an.
