PERBEDAAN KEMAMPUAN REPRESENTASI MATEMATIS DITINJAU DARI JENIS KELAMIN

Abstract
The ability of mathematical representation is needed by students so that students can easily convey their ideas by describing or interpreting their thoughts on something. The ability of representation is closely related to other mathematical abilities and also closely related to gender, therefore the purpose of writing this article is to find out the difference in students' mathematical representation abilities in terms of their sex or gender. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with the type of research is descriptive research. Data collection techniques used in this study were written tests. The number of research subjects used in this study were 6 students from class VIII D SMPN 1 Plumbon consisting of 3 male students with stratified mathematical abilities namely high, medium, low and 3 female students with stratified mathematical abilities, namely high, medium and low. For sampling technique is the Non-Probability Sampling method, namely Purposive Sampling, which means the researcher has searched and selected a sample in accordance with the criteria determined by the researcher. Here are some indicators that will be used to conduct research: 1). To present data or information from a representation to a diagram, graph or table representation; 2). Make equations or mathematical models from other representations given; 3). Make a representation to represent diagrams, graphs, or tables to clarify the problem and facilitate its resolution.
